PlatoFit Terms of Service
Last updated: 23 October 2026 · These terms apply to the PlatoFit apps for iPhone and Android and any related service ("PlatoFit").
PlatoFit is provided by Charalampos Strinopoulos, Wolfstraat 146, 6531 LR Nijmegen, the Netherlands ("we", "us"). By downloading or using PlatoFit you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use PlatoFit. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and is part of these terms.
1. Who can use PlatoFit
You must be at least 16 years old. If you use PlatoFit on behalf of someone else, you confirm you may accept these terms for them.
2. Health and fitness disclaimer
PlatoFit is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. Calorie and macro targets, energy expenditure estimates, target weights, sleep figures and all other numbers are estimates for general fitness information. They can be wrong. Talk to a doctor or qualified professional before starting a diet or training program, especially if you are pregnant, have a medical condition, an eating disorder or an injury. Lifting weights carries a risk of injury: train within your limits and use proper technique and safety equipment. You use PlatoFit's information at your own risk.
3. Your account
You can use PlatoFit without an account. If you create one (for example with Google or Apple sign-in), keep access to that sign-in method secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. Sign-in methods linked to an account are permanent so that your data and any purchases stay with you. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account.
4. Licence to use the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use PlatoFit on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, subject to these terms and the rules of the App Store or Google Play you downloaded it from. Apple and Google are not responsible for PlatoFit or its support.
5. Community food database
PlatoFit lets users add foods (name, brand, barcode, nutrition values, serving sizes and optionally a label photo), and confirm or report foods added by others.
- Your contributions: you confirm that what you add is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to share it. You give us and other PlatoFit users a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable licence to use, store, display, adapt and share the food data you contribute, as part of the PlatoFit database. Contributions are never shown with your name. Facts such as nutrition values are not owned by anyone; this licence covers your selection and presentation.
- Accuracy: food data is created by users and third parties and may contain mistakes. Always check the label of the product you eat, especially for allergies and medical diets. We may correct, hide or remove any food.
- Open Food Facts: part of the food database comes from Open Food Facts, made available under the Open Database License (ODbL); the database contents are under the Database Contents License. © Open Food Facts contributors. Foods that come from Open Food Facts are kept as a separate, identifiable set and are available under the same licence on request.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: add false, offensive, illegal or spam content; add content you don't have the right to share; manipulate votes or reports, or use multiple accounts to do so; try to access other people's data or our servers beyond what the app allows; reverse engineer, modify, or redistribute the app except where the law allows it; scrape the food database or use automated means to access the service; or use PlatoFit to break any law. We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
7. Paid features
PlatoFit is currently free. We may later offer optional paid features ("PlatoFit Pro"). If we do:
- Prices, what's included and the billing period are shown before you buy. Taxes are included where required.
- Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play, under their payment terms. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
- A free trial, if offered, turns into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. This doesn't affect your statutory rights.
- We will tell you in advance about price changes for an active subscription; you can cancel before they apply.
- Pro is linked to your PlatoFit account, so you need to be signed in to buy it and use it on your other phones.
8. Your data
Your workouts, food diary, sleep, weight and other personal entries belong to you. We only use them to provide PlatoFit, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can delete them at any time.
9. Changes and availability
We work to keep PlatoFit available and your data safe, but we can't promise the service will always be available or error-free. We may change, add or remove features. If we stop offering the online parts of PlatoFit, we will give reasonable notice where possible so you can keep or delete your data. Without an account, your data stays on your phone.
10. Intellectual property
The PlatoFit name, logo, design and software belong to us or our licensors. These terms don't give you any rights to them other than the licence in section 4. Third-party components are used under their own licences (for example the Inter font under the SIL Open Font License).
11. Ending your use
You can stop using PlatoFit and delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if required by law. Sections 2, 5, 10, 12 and 13 continue to apply after that.
12. Liability
PlatoFit is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data you didn't back up or sync, or harm resulting from relying on estimates or food data in the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your mandatory rights as a consumer under EU, Dutch or your local law.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring claims in the courts of that country. EU consumers can also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We'd always prefer to solve a problem directly first: write to us at the address below.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use PlatoFit after that means you accept the updated terms.
